Love the details: Beyoncé & Jil Sander dress

La colección de Primavera de Jil Sander está llena de ideas y detalles. Uno de los vestidos que me llamaron la atención era este vestido largo con recortes en la parte de la cintura y los muslos.

Jil Santander Spring collection is full of ideas and details. One of the dresses that attracted my attention was this long cut-out dress.


Más adelante vimos su versión modificada que no me gustó nada y no solamente porque Katie no llevaba sujetador. Comparando con el original, lo que quedó de la pieza me parecía súper soso.

The modification of the dress was seen on Katie Holmes but I didn't like it at all. And not only because Katie didn't wear a bra. Comparing to the runway version, hers was just too softened for my liking.


Pero cuando vi la foto de Beyoncé en la revista Vogue, me volví a enamorar. El vestido en un cuerpo curvado como el suyo de repente toma una nueva dimensión. Está divino. ¿No te parece?

But when I saw this foto of Beyoncé in Vogue, I felt in love again. The dress on a curvy body like hers suddenly gets another dimension. Divine. Don't you think so?

Katie Holmes hace unos días en Broadway. Una de las últimas en entrar al Club de Leggins de cuero. No puedo decir que últimamente me encanta su estilo. Lo que sí me gusta mucho en estas fotos son sus botines de Bruno Frisoni, aunque para lucir esta joya como se merece, el pantalón debería haber sido pelín más corto.

Katie Holmes some days ago in Broadway. One of the last to join the Leather Leggins Club. Can't say I've been loving her choies lately. What I do love here are the ribbon botties by Bruno Frisoni (that would have needed to be combined with just a bit shorter pants to stand out as they deserve).

Muchos me pedisteis, ya antes de este "Guess who ...?" post, que identificara el nuevo bolso de Beyoncé. Y cuando me pedís eso, sé que queréis nombres y apellidos, me refiero a que no os vale con el nombre del diseñador. No estoy segura, pero comparando los bolsos de Beyoncé y Charlize con el famosísimo Sirena de Giorgio Armani hecho de pieles de pescado que solamente se encuentra en Tailandia, creo que es el mismo modelo. Puesto que está fabricado en diferentes colores,  acabados y de diferentes tipos de piel, creo que el que lleva Beyoncé también es Sirena. Y no solamente lo tienen ella y Charlize, en este club ya teníamos a Victoria Beckham, Katie Holmes, Hilary Swank y Ellen Pompeo, entre otras.

Many of you asked me, already before the last "Guess who ...?" post, to ID Beyoncé's new hand jewel. And when you ask me for this, I know you want names and surnames, I mean designer name and the one of the bag in question. I'm not 100% sure about this one but after comparing the totes both Beyoncé and Charlize were carrying with the so famous and so exquisite Giorgio Armani SIrena tote made from the skin of a fish only living in Thailand, that was also  made in several colours and finishes, from several kinds of leather, I believe this tote is Sirena as well. And not only do Beyoncé and Charlize own it. In this club we've been already having Victoria Beckham, Katie Holmes, Hilary Swank and Ellen Pompeo, among others.

Metropolitan Museum: Superheroes - Fashion and Fantasy

El tema del último par de días son los modelitos y actitudes de las celebrities que acudieron al evento de Costume Institute Gala en el Metropolitan Museum en Nueva York (que en Nueva York se considera como party del año).
The hot theme of the last couple of days have been the dresses and actitudes of the celebrities that attended the New York's Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala - considered the party of the year.

El encargado de Costume Institute, Harold Koda, cuando le preguntaron por la razón detás de haber elegido precisamente el tema de superhéroe, explicó que la popularidad de estos personajes en actualidad es tan enorme que se puede comparar con la de los años cuarenta - la edad de oro de los comics en EEUU. Batman, Superman, Spiderman, The Hulk, Iron Man... solamente este verano se estrenarán seis nuevas películas con algún superhéroe como protagonista. Y tanto el vestuario icónico de los súper hombres, como el de las súper mujeres como Wonderwoman, Spiderwoman, Catwoman, inspiraron a lo largo de la historia a muchos diseñadores. La exposición se puede visitar hasta el 1 de septiembre.
The Costume Institute’s curator-in-charge, Harold Koda, was on hand to explain the raison d’etre behind this year’s theme, a radical departure from other galas which have featured iconic designers such as Poiret and Chanel. Recently, he said, there had been a surge in popularity of the superhero, something which had not been witnessed since America’s “golden age” of comic books in the 1940’s. He cited Hollywood’s fascination with Batman, Superman and Spiderman. There were six new movies due out this summer, he said, including a new Batman and a filmic version of The Hulk. The superhero’s iconic costume of cape, mask and bodysuit, was continually being referenced in fashion, along with designs inspired by his female counterparts, Wonder Woman, SpiderWoman and CatWoman. And the exhibition (you can visit until September 1) reveals how the superhero serves as the ultimate metaphor for fashion and its fascination with an idealized fantasy body.

La exposición incluye más que 60 trajes de películas, alta moda vanguardista, ready-to-wear y trajes deportivos para profesionales. Los diseñadores más famosos del mundo, entre otros Armani, Versace, Moschino, Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga, Thierry Mugles, Pirre Cardin, Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, prestaron sus creaciones para la exposición.
The gala will open on May 5th with an exhibition featuring more than 60 movie costumes, avant-garde haute couture, ready-to-wear and high performance sportswear.
Some of the world’s best-known designers are lending pieces for the exhibition including Armani, Versace, Moschino, Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga, Thierry Mugler, Pierre Cardin, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, among others.

Esta es la segunda parte del especial dedicado a todas las sxy fashion queens que me preguntaban por las tendencias para esta temporada de Otoño/Invierno 2007.
This is the second part of the special dedicated to all those sxy fashion queens that were asking me about this Fall/Winter 2007 season fashion trends.

Pantalones
Me preguntabais que si creo, que con tanto pantalón de talle alto y súper alto, se seguirán llevando modelos con talle bajo y si se seguirán llevando pitillos.
Para mí el talle bajo y pitillos son como minifaldas. Las faldas cortitas empezaron a llevarse en los años 20 del siglo pasado, han tenido su momentazo en los años 60, en los 70 han sido prácticamente sustituidas por faldas midi (hasta las rodillas) y maxi, pero en los 80 y más adelante volvieron, y personalmente creo, que mientras haya solamente una mujer que quiera lucir sus piernas, los diseñadores seguirán creando mini faldas. Así que siguiendo mi "teoría minifaldera”, estoy convencida, de que el talle bajo y pitillos no es que se seguirán llevando, sino que seguirán pisando fuerte. Llegarán nuevos colores, nuevos tejidos y acabados, pero el pantalón de talle bajo y pitillos seguirán presentes.
Lo bueno de esta temporada es que hay algo para todas. Desde pitillos hasta pantalón ancho (“pata de elefante”)… desde talle bajo, hasta el súper alto. ¿Ya has elegido el tuyo?
Trousers
You asked me whether, with all the high and extra high waisted trousers that are so hot now, I think, that skinny jeans and low waisted trousers will still be trendy.
For me, both the low waisted and skinny trousers are like miniskirts. The mini came into the fashion world in the 20’s of the last century, had their big boom in the 60’s, in the 70’s were practically substituted by midi and maxi skirts, but in the 80’s came back and personally, I think that meanwhile there is only one woman in the whole world that wants to show her legs, the designers will always bring mini’s to the runways. So following my “miniskirt theory", I’m convinced that not only you can keep wearing or buying low waist and skinny trousers/jeans, but that they will be highly trendy during the next season/s. They'll come new colours, new materials and new finishes, but low waist and skinny will always be here.
The good thing about this season is that there’s something for everybody. From the skinny to the wide (“elephant leg”) trousers, from the low waisted to the super high waisted. Did you already choose yours?

Some of you wanted me to tell you a couple of things or tree, that I think you should have in your closet. A friend of mine, as a joke, used to say, that a couple or tree is five… so I selected five things I think are the must haves for you for this upcoming season:

1. Algún pantalón. De de talle alto o súper alto, pitillos de colores o un pantalón ancho. Lo que más va contigo o lo que más te apetezca.
1. Some trousers: high or super high waisted trousers, coloured skinny jeans or a pair of wide trousers. Up to what best suits your style or what you most want to try.








2. Algo gris y algo en cualquiera de los colores “nuevos”, aunque solamente sea un complemento o zapatos.
2. Something grey or something in any of the “new” colours, even if it was a bag or a pair of shoes.

3. Algo de punto – chaleco, jersey, vestido. Elige un modelito sofisticado, con un corte original o unos detalles sorprendentes.
3. Something knitted. Waistcoat, sweater, pullover, dress. Pick up something sophisticated, with an original cut or shape or some surprising details.


4. Un buen abrigo. Cualquier color. Largo o corto. Ancho o ajustado. Opaco o metalizado. Liso o estampado. Cualquier tejido. Piel. Con mangas largas o tres-cuartos. Todo menos minimalista. Con un cuello enorme, con mangas anchas, entablado, con maxi botones o con botones de diferentes colores, con un cinturón (en la cintura, ni más arriba, ni más abajo)…
4. Some coat. Any colour. Short or long. Wide or tight. Opaque or metallic. Plain or with prints, patterns. Any texture. Leather. Long-sleeved or 2/3-sleeved. Anything but minimalist. With a huge collar, with wide sleeves, with maxi buttons or buttons in several colours, with a belt (on the waist, not above, not below)…



5. Algo en charol. Cinturón, bolso (¡y si uno, que sea XL!), zapatos de tacón alto, botines o botas.
5. Something in patent leather. A belt, a bag (and if one, let it be XL!), high heels, ankle boots or boots.
