Los Premios Alma nacieron en el año 1995 con el fin de apoyar los Latinos en la industria de entretenimiento. Y Eva Longoria, además de acudir como presentadora a la gala de la entrega de los premios, es productora del show desde el 2006. El equipo de Eva, para cada una de las galas, coopera exclusivamente con los diseñadores de origen Latino, así que los que seguimos su "pasarela" Alma, ya tenemos una pista a la hora de identificar el nombre detrás de cada creación. Y otra pista es que los nombres se suelen repetir año tras año, aunque siempre hay sorpresas. Por un lado se eligen modelos tal cual los hemos visto en la pasarela y se ajustan a medida, y por otro, hay vestidos especialmente diseñados para esta ocasión. Tengo que decir, que los vestidos elegidos para la gala del año pasado, aunque no todos me gustaron, en general me transmitían más la naturaleza latina, el temperamento y el alma latinos. Este año para mí ya no reflejaron eso. Muy elegantes pero mucho más serios, incluso en muchos Eva parecía mayor (en agunos mucho mayor). Me faltaba esa alegría, sensualidad y chispa del año pasado. ¿O sólo soy yo?
Alma Awards were born back in 1995 with the objective of promoting fair, accurate, and balanced portrayals of Latinos in the entertainment industry. The show was named "ALMA" (Spanish for "spirit" or "soul") which represents the determined spirit of the Latino people in an effort to reflect the spirit as well as the scope of the awards program. And Eva Longoria, on top of hosting the gala since 2006, is also the producer of the show since then. Her team, for each show, works exclusively with Latino designers. So for those who follow her "Alma catwalk", this is one of the clues to ID each creation. Another one is that the names are usually the same, even though there are always some surprises. On one hand Eva use to wear dresses we saw on the runway, on the other hand there are also creations tailor made exclusively for her and this occasion. Have to say the dresses chosen for the last year show, even though I can't say I liked all of them, for me were transmiting the Latin nature, temperament and spirit. Much more than this year selection which was very elegant but more serious, and in many dresses Eva looked older. I was missing the sensuality and spark from the last year. Carolina Herrera. 2008 vs. 2007. Aquí me gusta más el de este año, pero si fuera la responsable del vestuario, ninguno hubiera entrado en la selección. Desgraciadamente no tengo ese honor de momento, así que vas a tener que aguantarme un rato más... :o)

Esteban Cortazar. Los vestidos del año pasado son de sus propias colecciones (fotos 2 y 3). Esteban actualmente trabaja como Chief Designer para Ungaro, así que el vestido de este año, que no está nada mal, está firmado por la casa Ungaro.

Gustavo Cadile, uno de los grandes amores, no podría faltar. 2008 vs. 2007. Una vez más, me quedo con los del año pasado (en total eran tres -
los primeros dos los tienes aquí, y el tercero era el blanco con plumas).

Este año Eva lució otros cuatro vestidos más. Aún no sé decirte de quien son los primeros tres, pero lo que sí que sé es que si por mí fuera, no entrarían ni en los top 100 a considerar. Pero allá el equipo de producción y la misma protagonista.
On top of above dresses, Eva wore four more this year. I didn't ID the first three of them yet, but again, if I could decide, none of them would have entered to the selection, not even to the top 100. 
La sopresa de este año para mí fuera esta maravilla de
Scherer Gonzalez. Ese era
el más difícil de identificar pues el duo Scherer Gonzalez trabaja en Alemania (aunque la mitad del duo es de origen Latino) y a priori no les tenía clasificados como Latinos. Mi vestido favorito de esta gala. Y desde luego Eva lo luce muchísimo mejor que la modelo. Aquí el único comentario es el collar. Le hubiera puesto o unos pendients largísimos, igual desiguales, o una gargantilla extravagante. Con el escote "despejado". Nada de collares o colgantes. Pero por lo demás es un 10. Y si te gusta por delante, ...
And the fourth one, this Scherer Gonzalez gown, this was a huge surprise for me. And the most difficult to ID. Scherer Gonzalez duo is based in Germany (even though half of the duo is Latino) and I didn't have them classified as Latinos. My favourite dress. And Eva wears is so much better than the model. The only comment here would be her necklace. I would have chosen a couple of long earrings instead, maybe each of them different or an extravagant choker. No necklaces, no pendants. But all in all, this one is a 10. And if you like the front view, ...
