Spice Girls: So glad we made it, time will never ever change it...

El quinteto picante actuó ayer por última vez. Ayer se despidieron con la canción "Goodbye my friend, it's not the end… So glad we made it, time will never ever change it… " y ahora cada una de las chicas se dedicará a su carrera en solitario. Escribir libros para niños (Gerri), bailar y trabajar para programas de televisión (Mel B), cantar (Mel C), ser mamá (Emma) y trabajar en moda (Victoria).
Yesterday the spice quintet performed the last time. The girls ended the concert singing "Goodbye my friend, it's not the end… So glad we made it, time will never ever change it… " and from now on each of them will focus on their respective solo careers. Write books (Gerri), dance and work for TV programmes (Mel B), sing (Mel C), be mother (Emma) and work in the world of fashion (Victoria).



Antes del último concierto Victoria acudió a los almacenes Holt Renfrew, para promocionar su colección de vaqueros y gafas de sol dVb, y para encontrarse con sus múltiples fans.
Before the last concert Victoria visited Holt Renfrew store to promote her dvb denim and sunglasses collection, and to meet loads of her fans.





Al igual que en los dos anteriores encuentros con sus admirador@s de Boston y Chicago, llevaba vaqueros de su marca, una chaqueta entallada y taconazos de Louboutin.
Same as for the previous two "get togethers" with her fans from Boston and Chicago, she wore a pair of her dVb jeans, a fitted jacket and Louboutin heels.

Parece que la única que al final lució un modelito del diseñador de la colección de Primavera/Verano 2008 era Mel B.
It seems that at the end the only one that wore a dress from the designer's Spring/Summer 2008 collection, was Mel B.

Spice Girls están de vuelta... Spice Girls are back again...

El quintento picante, que recibió el premio de The Sun por el Mejor Comeback, ya está en Londres, donde celebraron juntas el Año Nuevo. Hoy les toca dar el primer concierto de este año.
The spice quintet, that received the The Sun award for the Best Comeback, is already in London, where they celebrated the New Year together. They'll be giving their first 2008 concert this night.

Nuevos modelitos de Spice Girls. New Spice Girls outfits.

Las chicas picantes sorprendieron sus fans con estos nuevos modelitos. Entiendo que el público inglés es muy especial para las chicas pues están actuando "en casa", pero espero que esta no es la última sopresa que nos espera a lo largo de la gira.
The girls surprised their fans with these new outfits. I understand the British fans are special for them because they are performing "at home", but I hope this is not the last surprise waiting for us throughout the tour.




Igual esta parte de vestuario terminará en el museo de cera. Si eso, los que crean las figuras podrían aprovechar para a) retocar a la figura de Victoria pues es la única que se parece bastante poco a la Posh Spice y b) volver a incluir la figura de Geri.
Maybe this part of the costumes will end in the wax museum. In this case, those who create the figures could a) modify the figure of Victoria because is the only one that doesn't look like the real Posh Spice and b) include again the figure of Geri.

Según Daily Mail, antes de empezar a diseñar el vestuario, Roberto Cavalli se reunió con todas y cada una de ellas, para conocer la evolución su personalidad desde que se separaron como grupo vocal, sus expectativas y deseos en cuanto a lo que cada una quiere lucir o tapar.
According to Daily Mail, before Roberto Cavalli began to desing the costumes, got together with each of the girls, to talk about the evolution of her personality since the group splitted, her expectations and requests regarding what she wants to show or cover up.

Victoria era la más atrevida, quería experimentar, sorprender, ser diferente. Su única petición era que Roberto le "añadiera caderas".
Victoria was the most daring, she wanted to experiment, to surprise and be different. Her only request was that we give her hips.

Geri quería todo muy sxy y teatral que hiciera lucir bien su figura (ya lo vimos en el video de "Headlines").
Geri wanted everything to be very sxy and theatrical in order to show her toned body (we saw it already in the "Headlines" video).

El vestido azul se parece al que lució en el evento de Victoria's Secret, en color dorado, solo que es más cortito, ¿no crees?
This blue dress looks like the golden one she wore for the Victoria's Secret event, only that this one is shorter, don't you think so?

And this outfit is similar to the one of her CDs cover.


Uno de los acuerdos era actualizar su icónico vestido Union Jack. Esta es mi pieza favorita en cuanto a Geri. No sorprende pero trae muchos recuerdos y no solamente relacionados con las Spice...
One of the agreements was to update Geri's iconic Union Jack dress into a corseted Swarovski crystal-studded minidress. My favourite piece within Geri's collection. Doesn't surprise but brings a lot of memories back and not only the ones related to the Spice Girls...




Mel B deseaba cosas con brillo, ajustadas al cuerpo y estampados animales. Según el diseñador, ha sido un trabajo muy duro pues tuvo que cambiar sus modelitos dos veces.
Mel B wanted shiny, body-conscious clothes and animal prints. According to the designer, she was very hard work and he had to change the outfits twice.




Toda esta serie blanco-plata me parecía más guapa dibujada que producida. El resultado final no ha cumplido mis expectativas. Pero también, estoy juzgando solamente basándome en las fotos, igual en realidad me sorprendería gratamente.
All this white-silver set looks nicer to me on the sketch than produced. The final result doesn't meet my expectations. But also, I'm judging all the outfits only based on the photos, maybe seeing all of them closer I'd be pleasantly surprised.

Emma quería algo más conservador y que cubriera sus "puntos débiles".
Emma wanted something conservative and covered up.

Y el resultado es este. Todo vestidos mini, y menos el abrigo rosa, que me parece una monada y pega con Baby Spice fantásticamente, el resto me resulta demasiado soso, pero igual ella considera los objetivos como cumplidos. Solo ellas saben.
And this is the result. All mini dresses, and on top of the pink coat I really love and suits Baby Spice fantastically, the rest of the "collection" for me is too boring, but maybe Emma considers this mission accomplished. Only they know.



Puesto que Mel C es la vocalista principal, quería cosas más del estilo rock chic, no tan deportivas como en el pasado, así que para ella Sr. Cavalli diseñó muchos pantalones.
Because Melanie C is the main vocalist, she wanted to be more rock chic than sporty - so for her, more trousers.

No siento nada especial por ninguno de los modelos. El que más me puede llegar a gustar es el conjunto beige-dorado-morado-verde. El de cuero me ha gustado más en el estado de borrador que en realidad.
Don't feel anything special for any of the outfits. The one that is not bad is the beige-golden-purple-green jacket and trousers. The leather one for me was nicer on the drawing than it is in reality.




Ayer el quinteto picante acudió al Aeropuerto Internacional de Los Angeles para la presentación de su "Spice One" avión de la compañía Virgin Atlantic. El nombre lo eligieron los fans, votando através de thespicegirls.com.
Yesterday the spice quintet attended the naming ceremony of the Virgin Atlantic plane named 'Spice One' in their honour, at Los Angeles International Airport. The name was chosen by the fans, that voted through thespicegirls.com site.

Vestuario de Spice Girls, parte 1. Spice Girls costumes, part 1.

Ayer las chicas picantes actuaron en San Jose, hoy les espera un concierto en Los Angeles. Como no quiero que todas las entradas sobre ellas sean "FF" (Fechas-Fotos), para que no te me aburras, voy a compartir contigo mis observaciones y/o "déjà vu", basadas en toneladas de fotos disponibles. Ya me dirás si te han gustado y si estás de acuerdo.
Yesterday the girls performed in San Jose, today they'll be giving a concert in LA. Since I don't want all the posts about their concerts to be "PP" kind of (place+pictures), 'cause I don't want you to get bored, I'll be sharing with you my observations and/or "déjà vu", based in all the tones of pictures available. Starting with...



Victoria

Tengo la impresión de que la inspiración de Roberto Cavalli a la hora de diseñar el vestuario de Victoria, ha sido más el propio estilo de la fashion icon que su pasado de Posh Spice. Y me parece fenomenal. Puesto que el pasado va a terminar después de la gira, hay que potenciar el presente. Victoria, sin duda, es la mejor vestida en el escenario.
I have an impression that the inspiration of Roberto Cavalli when designing Victoria's costumes, was more the fashion icon's personal style rather than her past as the Posh Spice. And I find it fenomenal. Since the past will end once the tour is finished, is more clever to promote the present. Victoria, without any doubt, is the best dressed on the spice stage.

Cuando repasé las fotos, lo primero con lo que me quedé eran los corsés.
When I went through all the pictures, the first thing that standed out were the corsets.


Los primeros dos me hicieron recordar sobre un vestido negro de Victoria.
The first two made me remember this black dress of Victoria.


El segundo me llevó, una vez más, a la rueda de prensa de Spice Girls.
The second one took me, once again, to the Spice Girls press conference.


Este segundo, además demuestra, que Sr. Cavalli tiene mucha experiencia en este tipo de trabajo, pues las piezas tienen incorporados bolsillos para los micros.
The second one, also demostrates that Mr. Cavalli has a huge experience with this kind of work, because the pieces have incorporated small pockets for micros.


El tercero, me recordó la colección de Dolce & Gabbana de esta primavera.
The third one, reminded me the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2007 collection.

... me llevó a estas "trendsetter" fotos de Victoria, a finales del año pasado. Era una de las primeras sxy fashion queens que empezaron a llevar el pantalón de talle alto:

El vestido verde era la única prenda que no me provocó una reacción de haberla visto. Esta parte de vestuario de Spice Girls, me parece la más barata, pero a la vez la más divertida y vistosa en el escenario. A Victoria le favorecen colores vivos y verde, es uno de ellos.
The green dress was the only garment, that didn't evoque any reaction to me. This set of costumes looks quite cheap to me, but at the same time I like it because it's funny and eye-catching on the stage. Bright colours suit very well to Victoria and green is one of them.



El vestido en el que hizo su "pasarela", además de estar bastante en la misma linea con el vestido negro de la primera actuación de las Spice Girls en el show de Victoria's Secret, tiene un cierto parecido con el vestido que lució Posh Spice hace unos ocho años.
The "catwalk" dress, on top of being in the same like like the black gown she wore for the Victoria's Secret show, looks a bit like the one Posh Spice was wearing about eight years ago.

... me hizo pensar en dos tendencias de celebrities: leggins o pantalones ajustados tipo látex y botas súper altas. Pero también sobre las botas altas de Victoria en el videoclip de Headlines y la famosa foto de ella y David, ambos vestidos de cuero, de 1999.
... make me thing about two celebrity trends: latex-like leggins or skinny trousers and thigh-high boots. But also thigh-high boots Victoria wore in Headlines videoclip and the famous picture of herself and David, both in leather, back in 1999.
