Y el magnífico trabajo de Robert Ryan. Cuando le preguntaron cuanto tiempo le llevó el recorte de esta auténtica maravilla de vestido (que puedes ver colgado en la pared izquierda de su ateliér), dijo que tres largísimos días. Increíble.

And the magnificent work of Robert Ryan. When he was asked how much time he spent cutting the dress below (on the picture below you can see it hanging on the left wall of his atelier), he said "three looong days". Unbelievable. An authentic wonder, isn't it?

Today I Feel Like Trying On: Manish Arora

¿No te encantaría poder entrar en el showroom de tu diseñador favorito y probarte alguna que otra pieza de las colecciones que solamente puedes ver en las fotos o videos de las pasarela? Sueño con ello. Sueño con poder tocar los tejidos. Ver los cortes. Enterarme de como hicieron las prendas que más me llaman la atención y cuanto tiempo tardaron en hacer cada una de ellas.

Y como soñar es gratis, hoy entré virtualmente al showroom de Manish Arora y me probé estos tres vestidos. Y como un pedazo de vestido tiene que ir acompañado de un gran par de taconazos, elegí no uno, sino directamente tres. Desde arriba y hacía la derecha: plataformas Bionic de la colección Otoño 2009 de Ruthie Davis. Plaformas fucsia de la colección de Roger Vivier Otoño 2009 inspirada en la baraja de cartas. Y las maravillosas peep toes moradas de esta temporada de Cesare Paciotti.

Wouldn't you love visiting your favourite designer's showroom and try on some outfits from all those collections you can only see on pictures or videos from the runway? I dream of it all the time. Dream of touching the fabrics. Observing the cuts. Find out how the pieces that attracted my attention were done and how much time it took to create each of them.

And since the dreams are free, I'll free my dreams. Today I feel like entering Manish Arora showroom and trying some dresses on. And since you shouldn't try such fabulous pieces without a pair of amazing heels, I've chosen three pairs directly. Las gafas de la modelo del medio, ya que estaba, también me las probé. Me hicieron volver en el tiempo (qué suerte la mía... no paro de viajar...). Concretamente a la pasarela Primavera/Verano 1997 de Thierry Mugler inspirada en la entomología donde vi esos "ojitos de bicho" súper fashion por primera vez. Y me quedaría con ellos. ¡Qué pena que no están disponibles!

During my virtual visit of the showroom, I also tried the eye jewel the model in the middle is wearing. It made me travel in time (lucky me, I'm always traveling...) to Thierry Mugler's Spring/Summer 1997 runway inspired in entomology where I saw the "bug eye" sunglasses for the first time. Love them and would buy them if only they were available.

Aunque estoy segura de que también me quedarían de miedo estas de Stephen Sprouse. ¿Qué me dices?

But I'm pretty sure I'd look gorge with these Stephen Sprouse bug eyes as well, wouldn't I?

Estaba navegando por internet buscando un dato sobre Roisin Murphy cuando encontré esta foto suya publicada en la revista Drama. Me encantó el jersey, así que entré en la página del diseñador y me enamoré (lo bueno de la moda es que te puedes enamorar varias veces al día sin llegar a abandonar tus previos "descubrimientos" y los amores de toda la vida). Ha sido un hechizo.

I was just looking for one detail about Roisin Murphy when I found this picture of her featured in the Drama Magazine. Her top is just fabulous piece I would love to wear myself, so I entered to the official site of the designer and it was a love at the first sight (good thing about fashion is you can fell in love several times a day while still adoring all your previous "discoveries" and your all time loves). This one was a real spell.

Las colecciones de Manish Arora son de lo más espectaculares y trabajadas. Modelitos para las atrevidas. Para salir y para ocasiones especiales. Cortes sorprendentes. Prendas adornadas a mano usando técnicas innovadoras de appliqué. Lentejuelas con impresiones digitales. Pero también tradicionales métodos Indios, como bordado gota. Verdaderamente fascinante.

Manish Arora collections are so spectacular and so well elaboraed. Outfits for those who dare to make a statement. For special occasions. Surprising cuts and forms. Works of art made using innovative techniques of embroideries like hand sown applique, digitally printed sequins as well as traditional Indian gota embroidery. Truly fascinating.

Me encanta cuando la colección de cualquier diseñador hace trabajar mi "disco duro" pues utilizó un estampado, un material, un corte o un motivo que me recuerda a otro que vi en una colección de otro diseñador diferente hace nada o hace muchísimo. En una colección creada anteriormente o posteriormente a la suya. Y dado que las colecciones de Manish Arora son tan ricas en colores, formas, materiales, ideas... me lo pasé muy bien repasando sus colecciones.

I love when a collection of any designer make my "hard disc" work since he or she used a print, a fabric, a cut or a motif that reminds me of something I saw in another designer collection created before or after the one in question. Is a wondeful excercise and it was a great fun this time because Manish Arora collections are so rich in colours, forms, materials, ideas...
