Cuando vi la portada de Emily Blunt para Harpers Bazaar UK que salía en Marzo 2009...

... me preguntaba cuantas portadas protagonizará este vestido de Gucci.

Coincidentalmente más o menos al mismo tiempo Mónica Cruz eligió este vestido de la colección Gucci Primavera 2009 para la party de Vanity Fair.

Coincidentally more or less at the same time I found Emily's cover, Mónica Cruz was spotted on the Vanity Fair Party red carpet rocking the same gown. 


Y solamente un mes después de Emily, salía la portada de Salma Hayek para InStyle. De momento la segunda protagonizada por la maravilla azul. Salma en la revista, entre otros, habla de su color favorito: "El nombre más bonito de un color en Español es azul, en Inglés blue, que también me encanta como suena. Mi perro se llama Blue."

And only one month after here we have the second "blue Gucci" cover. Salma Hayek for InStyle April 2009. Inside the magazine Salma talks, among others, about her favourite colour: "The most beautiful color name in Spanish is azul, which is blue, and I love the word in English, too. I have a dog named Blue."

Casualidades de la vida... Penélope Cruz para la boda de Salma Hayek casualmente eligió este vestido asimétrico del cual hasta ayer por la noche, cuanto por fin encontré mejores instantáneas, incluso pensaba que se trataba de la misma pieza que su íntima amiga lució en la portada... Pero aunque el color es el mismo y los vestidos se parecen como dos gotas de agua, el de Pe está firmado, según la revista Hola, por Versace. 

Life is full of coincidences... Penélope Cruz has coincidentally chosen this blue assymetrical dress for Salma Hayek's wedding. Until yesterday night, when I finally get some better takes, I thought is the same dress her best friend wore on her InStyle cover... But even though the colour is the same and the dresses are like two drops of water, the gown Penélope wore is Versace, according to the Spanish magazine Hola.

Penélope Cruz: 1st Oscar Winning Spanish Actress

Como cada año. Cuanto más se aproximan los Oscars, más se habla de los vestidos de las protagonistas. Las apuestas más frecuentes para Penélope eran Chanel y Azzedine Alaïa. Personalmente, la verdad, lo único que me atreví a adivinar era que lo más probable optará por palabra de honor. El vestido que al final lució ayer era una de las creaciones de alta costura de Pierre Balmain de los años 50, adquirido y conservado por una de las conservadoras más famosas mundialmente, Rita Watnick de Lily et Cie. En su tienda de unos 1500 metros cuadrados en Beverly Hillsse se encuentra una colección de aproximadamente medio millón de exquisitas piezas y no es la primera vez que Rita viste a una fashion queen para los Oscars. El vestido de Jean Desses Renee Zellweger llevaba para los Oscars en 2001 y el de Jennifer Lopez del mismo diseñador en el que caminaba por la carpeta roja de los Oscars en 2006 pertenecían a su colección.

The dress she wore was one of the Haute Couture creations by Pierre Balmain from the 50's, acquired and curated by one of the most known curators worldwide Rita Watnick from Lily et Cie. In her 5000 square foot store in Beverly Hills you can find a collection of over a half million exquisite pieces and this is not the first time she dresses an A-lister for the Oscars. Both the yellow Jean Desses gown Renee Zellweger wore in 2001 and the green Jean Desses dress Jennifer Lopez walked the Oscar 2006 red carpet in, were from her collection.


Penélope es cliente de Lily et Cie desde hace tiempo y Rita ya ha colaborado con ella para varios eventos. El vestido que llevaba puesto ayer la había encantado hace años y llamó para preguntar si aún lo tienen disponible. Según la conservadora, esta pieza de color marfil conlleva un trabajo terriblemente difícil. Tanto la estructura, como la construcción y el bordado. Solamente para completar los adornos bordados a mano se tardó más que medio año. ¿Te lo imaginas?

Penélope has been a great client of Lily et Cie for many years and Rita has colaborated with her for many events and personal wardrobe. She saw the dress many years ago totally adored it and came back and asked if Rita still had it. Strapless draped at bodice and skirt with silk tulle. Ivory lace totally hand embroidered with gold bouillon threads. This Balmain Gown is confoundingly difficult in execution. Everything. The structure, construction and impossibly difficult detailed embellishment in appearance are of the most exacting Couture standards. The embroiderer came from Paris to visit Ms. Watnick and informed her that this gown took well over a half a year just to complete the intricate embrodered embellishments. Can you imagine?





Así que gracias a Pe por hacernos viajar en el tiempo. Muchas felicidades por su premio y por haberse convertido en la primera actriz Española en ganar la estatuilla de oro. Y para los que no podemos visitar Lily et Cie y tocar el glamour de su amplísima colección, os invito a visitar el backstage de la presentación de una de las colecciones de alta costura de Pierre Balmain. Cierra los ojos y cuando los abras, por arte de magia, estaremos en 1954.

El "virus" de la fiebre primaveral Dolce & Gabbana creo que empezó con January Jones en Septiembre y pronto después comenzaron a aparecer más "víctimas". Penelope Cruz, que eligió el mismo vestido pero en negro. Victoria Beckham que optó por el mismo pero en versión pasarela.
