When the designer and his style icon meet: Gareth Pugh & Daphne Guinness

Él comentó en diferentes ocasiones que le encantaba la idea de que alguien como ella luciera sus creaciones, alguien a quien le gusta comunicarse a través de lo que lleva puesto.

Mientras ella llevaba uno de sus modelos, decía a la prensa que él es un diseñador polifacético y el más interesante de los que salieron de Reino Unido en los últimos años. En la misma entrevista a Irishtimes también dijo que le gustaban armaduras.

Hace nada tuvieron la ocasión de decirse los cumplidos uno al otro personalmente. Él es Gareth Pugh. Ella es Daphne Guinness. Ambos juntos posaron para la revista Time Out magazine vestidos en las armaduras de Gareth Pugh Primavera 2009. Gareth va a trabar como editor invitado para la revista durante London Fashion Week. Una de las fotos también aparecerá en la portada de la revista.

The designer himself commented in several occasions he liked the idea of someone like her wearing his pieces, someone who likes to make a statement with what she wears.

And herself, wearing one of his dresses, told press he's multi-faceted and the most interesting dress designer to come out of the UK for a while. During the same interview for Irishtimes she also said she had a thing about armour.

Now these two had an opportunity to share their mutual respect for each other. He is Gareth Pugh. She's Daphne Guinness. The designer and his style icon met during the photoshoot session for Time Out Magazine. Both were posing in B&W armour pieces from his Spring 2009 collection. The designer has been invited to guest edit Time Out magazine during the course of London Fashion Week and one of the pictures will appear on the cover of "his" issue.

Y ahora se le cumple el sueño y tiene la oportunidad de trabajar con una de sus fashion icons favoritas. Qué niño tan afortunado!

Gareth has to be so happy. First Kylie and Roisin. Then Beyoncé. The other day I found this Grace Jones picture - part of the "Amazing Grace" editorial for The Observer Music Monthly October 2008 issue. And now his dream came true and he had the opportunity of working with one of his favourite fashion icons. What a lucky guy.

Además ya es más que oficial que Thierry se encargará del vestuario de Beyoncé para su gira que empezará dentro de nada. Estoy impaciente por ver todos los modelitos que lucirá en el escenario tanto Sasha Fierce (¡por lo visto serán unos 58!), como sus banda, bailarines y cantantes. Los que pensabamos que debió haberse inspirado durante el evento Met: Fashion & Fantasy, no pudimos estar más en lo cierto pues la versión oficial es precisamente esa: Beyoncé se enamoró de los diseños de Thierry Mugler al ver los ejemplos de su trabajo en el Metropolitan Museum en Mayo. Creo que su Sasha Fierce show va a ser un gran espectáculo (ya solo faltaría que Thierry fichara a Beyoncé para su siguiente anuncio de Angel y regalaran muestras con las entradas). El vestido que ha sido elegido para la portada de su último disco, como no, también es de Thierry. ¡Qué envidia!

I can't wait to see all the costumes Thierry has prepared for the upcoming tour for Beyoncé (who will wear approximately 58 Mugler creations), as well as for the band, back-up dancers and singers. Those of us who have been thinking she had to find the inspiration during the Met: Fashion & Fantasy event, couldn't be closer to reality since the official version is Beyoncé first fell in love with Mugler's designs when she saw some examples of his work on display at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, at The Costume Institute's, Superheroes show back in May. I'm sure Sasha Fierce's concerts will be a hell of a great show (will Thierry also feature her in the next Angel commercial to make the deal more complete for both sides and give away samples during the whole tour?). The vintage dress she wears on the cover of her latest release is by Thierry Mugler as well. I'm green with envy... When you see this wouldn't you like to be a star... even just for a day?

Y ahora en la blogosfera su nombre está que arde gracias a su celebre fanclub. Para mí es un genio. Estoy hablando de Gareth Pugh. Y este especial está dedicado a él y sus tres fans más conocidas.

He debuted with his first solo collection during London Fall 2006 Fashion Week. Surprised and keeps surprising. His controversial work keeps grabbing attention. You either love it or hate it, there is nothing in between. To describe his collections in three words he says: "Black, black, black". People use to compare his creations with those of Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood or Thierry Mugler. Currently his name is on fire on the blogosfere thanks to his celebrity fanclub. For me he's a genius. I'm talking about Gareth Pugh and this story is about himself and his three best known fans.

El vestido que eligió para la portada y el videoclip del single "In My Arms" es de la colección Primavera 2007 (Gareth además también participó en el diseño del vestuario para el videoclip "2 Hearts").

El último modelito visto a Kylie era este vestido de cuero con leggins, ambos de la colección Primavera 2008. Ha sido todo un récord pues, aunque no recibió muchas críticas positivas por su estilismo, lució el vestido en la after party nada más terminar la presentación de la colección. Me enantaría tener este privilegio (en más de una colección y en más de un diseñador).

The last outfit spotted on Kylie was this leather dress she wore with shiny leggins, both from Spring 2008 collection. Even though many people criticized her for this look, she broke a record since she rocked this outfit during the after party. From the catwalk, directly to Kylie's closet. I would love to have this privilege (and not only for this collection and not only from this designer).


Roisin Murphy expresó su felicidad por haber podido visitar el showroom de Gareth, ver todos los modelitos y poder elegir. Para ella fue amor a primera vista, y la verdad es que el estilo de Gareth va muy bien con su estilo. Para el video de su single "Overpowered" estrenado en verano 2007, apostó por el mismo vestido de la colección Primavera 2007 que Kylie, cuyo video ha sido presentado a principios del año 2008 (el mismo vestido en el que tantos estilistas se enamoraron).

Roisin Murphy told press she was thrilled by visiting Gareth's showroom and being able to see all his fabulous pieces. For her was a love at first sight and personally I find Gareth's designs a great match with Roisin's fashion forward sense of style. In her "Overpowered" video premiered in summer 2007, she rocks the same dress Kylie wears in "In My Arms", video that was released beg 2008 (same dress many stylist fell instantly in love with).

Aquí parece haber salido directamente de la pasarela. Y casi casi es cierto pues lució el modelito unas 48 horas después de su presentación. El efecto visual de la combinación de blanco y negro de las prendas de la colección Primavera 2009 me fascina.

Here she looks as if she just escaped from the catwalk. Almost. She wore this outfit just about 48 hours after the presentation of the Spring 2009 collection. The visual effect of the black and white combination simply fascinates me.
